ITINERARY

Day 1. ARRIVAL IN ASHGABAT

Meet the group at the airport. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner in a local cafe. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2. ASHGABAT

Breakfast. Full day city tour with visits to the Ertogul Gazy Mosque, the Independence Park, the Arch of Neutrality, the National Museum, Nissas and Turkmenbashi Ruins, the Anau Mosque, the Ahalteke Horse Stable and the Central Bazaar. Lunch - Dinner at the local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 ASHGABAT - DARWAZA

Breakfast. Transfer to Darwaza in the Karakum Desert. Visit the Erbent desert community. Barbecue dinner. Overnight in a tent. The Darwaza region is rich in natural gas deposits. During drilling in 1971, Soviet geologists discovered a cavity filled with gas. The ground under the drill collapsed, leaving a hole of 70 metres. In order to prevent a possible toxic escape of the gas, it was decided to light it. The geologists hoped the fire would go out after a few days, but it still burns today. The inhabitants of the area therefore call this place the "gate to hell"!

Day 4 DARWAZA - KHIVA

Breakfast. Drive to the Uzbek-Turkmen border crossing "Daschogus". Drive to Khiva. City tour in Khiva: visit of the architectural complex Ichan - Kala, the residence of the last Khiva - Khan, the Ismail Khodja Mausoleum, the Muhammad Amin Khan Medresen, the Kunya-Ark Castle (XVI-XVI), the Juma Mosque (X) and other tourist sights of Khiva. Narrow streets, royal minarets and mausoleums, traditions and art - all this was treasured in the city.

 

Day 5 KHIVA - BUKHARA

Breakfast. In former times, it took more than a month to get from Khiva to Bukhara. Today it takes 6-7 hours by car on a journey through the mysterious red desert "Kyzyl-Kum", the area of the "Khorezm", which in the past was called the "land of hundred cities". The secrets buried in this desert will keep archaeologists and historians busy for a long time. Enjoy the view of the exotic landscapes of the desert, its camels, yurts and the river Amurdarya. Arrival in Bukhara. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 6 BUKHARA - SAMARKAND

During the day, the old town of Bukhara awaits us: In the centre we visit the Poi Kalon complex, which consists of the minaret, the mosque and two medresas. Drive to Samarkand - one of the oldest cities in the world. City tour. Transfer to the railway station. Overnight stay in a hotel in Samarkand.

Day 7 SAMARKAND - TASCHKENT

Full day excursion to Samarkand. Sightseeing: Registan Square, Madrasah of Ulukbek (XV), Shir-Dor (XVII), Tillya-Kori (XVII), Gur Emir Mausoleum, the Mausoleum of Amir Timur, Bibi Khanym Mosque - the Emir's favourite woman had the mosque of the same name built during the India campaign of Timur. Visit of the Siab Bazaar. Train to Tashkent. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8. DEPARTURE

Morning city tour in Tashkent: Museum of Applied Arts, religious complex Khasti Imam. After dinner transfer to the airport. See the group off.
